Of course, if you also exercise (less than an hour), drink an additional 2 cups. If you're pregnant, you need to drink 10 cups daily and if you're breast-feeding, 13 cups (3 liters).

Although it's generally a good idea to keep water within reach at all times, you don't need to rely only on it exclusively to meet your fluid needs. Food also provides a significant amount of water. Also, don't use thirst alone as a guide for when to drink water or, by the time you become thirsty, you may already be slightly dehydrated.
